What originally began as a gift-giving-hobby making homemade candles has quickly ignited a growing business emanating from my own kitchen. Merging this newfound business with my love of all things vintage and old Hollywood, Starlet Candle Company was born in December 2009.

Drawing from my 10 years experience in brand naming, I wanted to create a brand name with functionality and vintage appeal. I chose the name “Starlet,” (defined as “an up and coming Hollywood actress” or “small star or heavenly body”), to capture that old Hollywood flair while also referencing the ambient light created by the flame of the candles.

Benefits of Soy Wax

by admin on May 21, 2010

My candles are hand-poured from my own kitchen and made from all natural soy wax. Compared to candles made from paraffin, soy wax candles offer many advantages.

  • Eco-friendly
  • Made from a renewable source
  • All-natural, non-toxic and biodegradable
  • Provide a longer, cleaner burn
  • Produce 90% less soot than paraffin candles
  • Distribute more scent into the air due to lower melting point and larger wax pool
  • and most importantly, SUPPORTS OUR AMERICAN FARMERS!

Soy Burning Instructions

by admin on May 10, 2010

For the most optimal burning results, always remember to:

  • Keep a burning candle within sight and never unattended
  • Allow to burn for 2 hours on first burn to ensure an even melting pool across the container (this will prevent tunneling)
  • Keep the wick trimmed to ¼ of an inch before each use
  • Keep your candle away from air vents or drafts
  • Discontinue use when only ½ inch of wax remains
